FAQs

Does my dress need cleaning if it doesn't look dirty?

Yes, it’s still well worth having it professionally cleaned. Marks you can’t see, especially from spilled drinks, can slowly darken and show up over time. Other stains can set into the fabric if they’re left, making them much harder or even impossible to remove later on. Your wedding dress is a precious keepsake, and cleaning it as soon as possible means it’s properly cared for, sanitised and ready for preservation, so you can store and treasure it for years.

Why should I use one of your storage boxes?

Our handmade preservation boxes are made from specially milled pH neutral board, which means they contain no acid or alkali. Lots of everyday materials, such as wood, ordinary cardboard and fabric dyes, contain acids that can cause yellowing and discolouration when they’re in contact with a dress over time. Unlike plastic covers, our wedding dress preservation boxes also let the fabric breathe. Plastic can trap moisture, which can harm delicate fabrics if a dress is stored that way for a long time. Our boxes are a much safer way to protect your gown for years to come.

My care label mentions the 'Baptiste process'. Can you still clean my dress?

Yes, and we’ve cleaned thousands of dresses with this label. ‘Baptiste’ is simply a registered trademark another cleaner uses to describe their own method, so as specialist wedding dress cleaners we don’t use it. Instead, we assess every dress individually and create a cleaning process that suits its fibres, fabric and style. Because we’re not tied to one method, we can choose whatever will give your gown the best result.

My care label says spot clean only. Can you still clean it?

Yes. As specialist wedding dress cleaners, we have plenty of cleaning methods to choose from. We’ll examine your dress closely and plan a process around its particular needs, so we get the best possible result.

Is my dress insured?

Yes. In the very unlikely event that something goes wrong, we’ll pass the matter to our insurers, who will handle your claim personally in line with industry practice and guidelines.

Can you guarantee every mark and stain will be removed?

We’d love to say yes, but honestly, nobody can promise that, and we’d advise being wary of any company that does. Wedding dresses are often made from delicate fabrics that can be damaged or lose their colour if they’re treated too harshly. As specialist wedding dress cleaners, we assess every gown carefully and use the method best suited to its fabric and condition. What we can promise is that we’ll do everything we can to get the best result, and in most cases your dress comes back beautifully clean and as close to spotless as possible.

How long does it take?

Our standard service usually takes 3 to 6 weeks from the day you order to the day your dress comes back to you. If you need it sooner, we also offer an express 4 day service, so just get in touch to find out more.

When do I pay?

You secure your order with a £75 deposit, and we’ll ask for the balance once your dress is ready for delivery.

My dress is damaged. Can you repair it?

Yes. Our seamstress will be happy to take a look and give you a quote for any repairs needed.
